Latest W3HA operations - 2025
Every June, the ARRL sponsors Field Day, when clubs and individuals set up stations at temporary locations. As we have done the past two years, the Club will set up operations in Penn Forest Recreational Park on 903 on June 28-29 with two HF transmitters and one VHF transmitter. The coordinates of our station are 40.92769° N, 75.69486° W, if you to put it in your GPS. In 2023, we made 168 contacts and achieved a score of 620. In 2024 we made 272 contacts and our score was 918. Even more significant was the increase in participants from 7 in 2023 to 20 this year. Unfortunately, it was very hot that weekend and we didn't get very many visitors. We are hoping for not hot and not rainy, but we deal with what comes.
On the weekend of October 12-13, we participated in the PA QSO Party, where Pennsylvania clubs and individuals made contacts with in-state operators and operators in the US and abroad. We logged 233 contacts with 47 PA counties, 27states, three Canadian provinces and even made one contact in the Slovak Republic.
Our next club breakfast will be at the Beacon 443 Diner at 9:00 A.M. on December 6th, 2025. It is located on Rt. 443 in Lehighton near the intersection of Rt. 209. Please let Donna know if you plan to attend by Friday morning proceding the breakfast so she can provide a count to the diner. Her email is dkattner@ptd.net.
The annual Club Christmas Party will be held on Friday, December 12th starting at 6 P.M. at the American Legion in Lehighton, Pa. The address is 381 Bridge St. Lehighton, 18235. Please email Donna if you plan on attending, dkattner@ptd.net.
We have replaced our old antenna and put up a new OCF dipole and during its initial operation we made two contacts in Russia outside Moscow. We plan some additional fine tuning of that antenna and are working on the selection of a second antenna. Once the radio room is complete, we will post pictures! Stay tuned...
In Spring 2026, we expect the club to participate in ARRL Field Day, the last full weekend in June. Details will be coming soon.
Club Meeting Information
Club meetings are the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM.
On January, April, July and September, a Board meeting is held starting at 7:00 PM.
If a meeting is cancelled due to weather or other reasons, notification will be posted here.
All members are welcome to both meetings.
